Tentative Schedule of Activities

Friday night join us in the lobby at 5:30 for the Welcome Gathering at the Marriott Uptown, our host hotel. Collect your Welcome Bag and share a laugh – and check out our signature cocktail - “The Affentail” – as you greet your friends and fellow Affen lovers and exhibitors. Following the meet and greet, there will be an open gathering in the hospitality suite at 7:00pm for a round table discussion. Suggested topics will include: Affenpinscher Health and Welfare, Stud Dog Directory, and other general topics of interest. New members and others new to the breed are especially encouraged to attend. This is a great opportunity to “pick the brain” of long time breeders and exhibitors.

Saturday morning at 9 am, Pam Peat will host a Judges Education presentation in the Judges’ Hospitality Room at the show site. For more information, please contact Pam Peat at 602-473-4776 or Cameron Riegel at 505-362-8781. Saturday’s Supported Entry will be a tribute to the world famous International Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, so wear your brightest colors in honor of the glorious balloons that fill the crystal blue New Mexico skies each October. We will have both Sweepstakes and Breed judging. Despite the full schedule you may want to schedule some time to explore the many sites, food and cultural opportunities Albuquerque has to offer. Be prepared to “Up Up and Affen Away!” the day with good friends, old and new, as you explore: “Old Town” Albuquerque, The Balloon Museum, The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, The Hispanic Cultural Center, The Natural History Museum, The World’s longest Tram, and the many restaurants that cater to a variety of culture’s and tastes. Your hosts would be happy to assist you to get the most out of your visit in Albuquerque and surrounding areas.

Sunday is the ACA National, where you will “Get Your Affen Kicks on Route 66” in recognition of the iconic highway that meanders through New Mexico and Albuquerque on its way to the west coast and east to Chicago. Don’t forget your Affen skirt, leather jackets, saddle shoes and ducktails, as this 50’s / 60’s themed day is sure to bring a smile to all. Join us for the annual meeting on site after Sweepstakes and Breed judging (lunch will be provided by ACA) Lets all cheer on our breed winner in group judging, then mosey on over to the host hotel for the annual banquet and fun-filled auction.

At Monday’s Supported Entry and Sweepstakes, we will celebrate “Affen Alien” day…think UFOs, Roswell and White Sands Missile Range… Wear your best alien green as we pay homage to those storied little green men and spaceships of yore! One hour following Best In Show, there will be a Route 66 diner meal provided while we conduct the first ever Affen Match on the plaza of the host hotel. The following classes will be held: 3 – 6 months, 6 – 9 months, 9 – 12 months, Adult and Veteran. Sign up the day of the event. No finished champions, except for Veterans classes. For this free dinner, please be sure to sign up in advance on our website letting us know if you desire a regular or veggie burger. It will be served with fries and a rootbeer float.

We wrap up on Tuesday by honoring the historic Native American culture of New Mexico. Wear your Southwestern attire and deck yourself out in some of the gorgeous handcrafted turquoise jewelry that the region is famous for. (Consider this a good excuse to go out shopping while you are out exploring “Old Town” on Saturday night.)
